Cookie Policy

Last updated:

This Cookie Policy explains how Unilume uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies when you visit unilume.co.uk. It also explains how you can control these technologies.

Short version: We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking. This website uses only minimal browser localStorage to remember your visual interactions with the site. No cookie consent banner is required.

1.What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage, which store data directly in your browser without using a traditional cookie file. This policy covers all of these technologies collectively referred to as 'cookies and similar technologies'.

2.What We Store and Why

In Short: We store only what is strictly necessary to make the interactive experience of this website function correctly between visits.

TechnologyWhat is storedPurposeDurationTransmitted to our servers?
localStorageVisual interaction state (which animated visual elements you have activated or kept lit)Strictly functional: to remember your interactions between page visits so the visual experience is consistentUntil you clear browser site dataNever
localStorageIntro animation completion flagStrictly functional: to avoid replaying the intro animation sequence on every visitUntil you clear browser site dataNever

All storage listed above exists only in your browser on your device. We cannot read it. It is not transmitted to us and has no effect on how we identify or contact you.

3.Third-Party Cookies and Tracking

In Short: We do not load any third-party analytics or advertising scripts. Our infrastructure providers may process limited technical data independently.

We do not load Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, HubSpot, Intercom, or any other third-party tracking or analytics service on this website. No third-party advertising cookies are set by us.

Vercel (hosting)

Our website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may set or process limited technical cookies related to infrastructure routing and edge network performance. These do not identify you individually and are not used for advertising. Vercel's full cookie and privacy practices are described in their privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

4.GoDaddy Domain Analytics

In Short: GoDaddy is our domain registrar and DNS provider. As part of operating the domain, GoDaddy may collect and process DNS query data and domain-related analytics independent of our website code.

The domain unilume.co.uk is registered with and DNS-managed by GoDaddy. When you resolve our domain (for example, by typing the URL into your browser), GoDaddy's DNS infrastructure processes this query. GoDaddy may collect analytics and usage data related to domain activity as described in their privacy policy.

This data collection occurs at the DNS layer and is independent of the website code we operate. We do not have access to or control over the data GoDaddy collects through its DNS and domain services.

GoDaddy's privacy policy: godaddy.com/legal/agreements/privacy-policy. Their cookie policy: godaddy.com/legal/agreements/cookie-policy.

5.Do You Need to Consent?

Because we use only strictly necessary localStorage entries on our own site (with no analytics, advertising, or third-party cookies set by us), we are not required under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) to obtain cookie consent for this website in its current form. We do not present a cookie consent banner because there is nothing to opt out of.

If we introduce analytics or advertising tools in the future, we will update this policy, add a proper consent mechanism, and clearly describe what has been added before implementing it.

6.How to Clear Your Browser Storage

You can clear localStorage at any time through your browser settings. The exact steps vary by browser:

  • –Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → Cached images and files / Site data
  • –Safari: Settings → Advanced → Website Data → Remove All Website Data
  • –Firefox: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
  • –Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Clear browsing data

Clearing site data will reset any saved interaction state on this website. This has no effect on data you have submitted through our contact forms, which is held server-side and must be deleted by contacting us at info@unilume.co.uk.

7.Changes to This Policy

If we add analytics, advertising, or any new storage technologies, we will update this policy before doing so. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision. If changes are material, we will notify you by updating the date prominently and, where appropriate, by direct email.
